Exploring Your Creative Genius: Episode 134
The most recent show is a collection of creative exercises that are proven to help you grow your creative capacities; most are easy to integrate into your day. When you play with these exercises your brain changes and the next creative challenge you take on will have benefited from your exercise; it’s very much like strengthening a muscle through exercise.
Here’s another, one I thought might be a challenge to communicate over the radio.
You find here a list of phrases.
Pick one and draw the image that captures that phrase for you, that illustrates it, perhaps extends or develops it.
Tips for your drawing: Use unlined paper and give yourself permission to fill the page with your image. Research has found that the bigger the image you draw the more your creative faculties are engaged. And trust the intelligence in your hand; when you are uncertain what you want to draw put pen or pencil to paper and just start.
“As happy as a clam”
“I can’t get no satisfaction”
“Where is the world?”
“A hard day’s night”
“It’s human nature.”
“Here comes trouble.”
“Truth be told”
“Life is a carnival”
“When I paint my masterpiece”
As mentioned in the show, holding an object in your hand—that pen or pencil—engages your brain more completely, so you get that benefit as well.

“Exploring Your Creative Genius” takes an expansive view on what it means to be creative and entrepreneurial in an ongoing conversation led by Carl Nordgren — entrepreneur, novelist, and lifelong student with decades of experience growing his own creative capacity and assisting others to do the same in exciting new ways!
