Exploring Your Creative Genius: Episode 115
As Denise Rowson said during last week’s show, I’ve been trying to get her as a guest to talk about the vitally important work the Durham CDF Freedom School is doing: helping children fall in love with reading.
Their six-week summer program runs from June 16th to July 25th at Epworth Methodist Church in Durham.
Their summer program is remarkably successful. Last year 30 students attended and 90% of them gained a 1 or 2 grade level improvement in their reading; the other 10% remained at their current reading level.
Their major annual fund raising event is at Epworth on May 31st, from 5 til 7 pm. There will be refreshments, music, and spoken word performances.
