This month, enjoy a conversation with Annabelle Oberst, a recent UNC Grad and intern with Orange Partnership, and Rowan Keever, an ADAPT Intern and rising high school Junior.
June is National Pride Month, and it’s an important time to learn more about the current mental health struggles faced by LGBTQ+ young people living in North Carolina.
Listen to the full conversation between 97.9 The Hill’s Andrew Stuckey, Annabelle Oberst, and Rowan Keever as they dive into data collected in North Carolina by The Trevor Project’s 2024 U.S. National Survey on the Mental Health of LGBTQ+ Young People and discuss how the South stands out in the research, factors that contribute to a higher risk of suicide, and ways to support LGBTQ+ communities in NC.

Bridging the Gap, presented by Orange Partnership, showcases a new conversation on the first Friday of each month airing on 97.9 The Hill, with the full series posted on Chapelboro. Meet local partners working together to close the communication gap between parents and their children and help all young people in our community live healthy and productive lives through awareness, compassion, consideration and positive action!
Thank you so much for this insightful and important interview. I hope our community will continue to work towards the goal of making supportive mental health services available to every young person who needs it. Thank you for doing this!
