The Hemingway Days festival occurs every year. One of the highlights is a look-a-like contest.
This year, a 65-year-old Macon, North Carolina man won the contest. His name is Dave Hemingway. No relation.
Smuggling Cans
On a 1996 episode of Seinfeld called “The Bottle Deposit” Kramer and Newman collect bottles and cans. Their plan is to truck the empties to Michigan where you can cash in 10 cents per item.
That same thing just happened in real life. But, it is illegal to knowingly transport bottles across state lines to collect the cash. So, when Brian Edward Everidge now faces a trial for illegally depositing out-of-state cans. He tried to deposit 10,000 cans. It would have made him $1,000.
