The Simpsons, as in the long-running animated series on Fox, evidently wants to see Villanova win the National Championship on Monday.
Bart Simpson wrote, “If Villanova doesn’t win we lose everything,” on the chalkboard during the opening sequence.
VUHoops.com caught the bandwagon Simpsons.
Did The Simpsons writing staff bet their mortgages on Villanova winning the big game? Do they have a problem with the Tar Heels?
Nobody seems to able to figure it out. It’s quite the puzzle. The fine folks at Uproxx unearthed a possible clue. Barney Gumble, Springfield’s town drunk, once mentioned Villanova. He popped out of a car trunk and said, “All I remember about the last two months is giving a guest lecture at Villanova or maybe it was a street corner.”

UNC and Villanova play in the NCAA championship game on Monday night. UNC is looking for its sixth NCAA championship and Villanova wants its second NCAA title. No. 2 seed Villanova has advanced through the NCAA Tournament with margins of victory of 30, 19, 23, five and 44. The North Carolina Tar Heels are playing some of the best basketball in the country heading into the school’s 10th national championship game.
