Trending today: a North Carolina state senator introduces a silly bill to ban participation trophies – which spurs Victor to take a deep dive into the history of participation trophies in America. (Fun fact: while some of us like to cite participation trophies as a way to complain about ‘these kids today,’ the whole idea of participation trophies got its start because earlier generations were complaining about ‘these kids today’ too!) That leads Aaron to offer his own theory about what we really ought to ban: complaining about ‘these kids today.’
