Trending today: a new report that finds we’ve made big advancements in weather forecasting – but there’s still room to grow. The trending study suggests that a five-day forecast today is as accurate as a one-day forecast was back in the 1980s, but we can make forecasting even more accurate with a greater investment in the science. (This leads Aaron to discuss one of his favorite recent reads, “The Fifth Risk” by Michael Lewis – about the vital, lifesaving importance of data science, and how a certain recent presidential administration stopped committing to it because they were more concerned with hot-button issues.)
