That one may be easily explained – we all had to entertain ourselves in 2020, which meant buying our own pyrotechnics in lieu of those canceled public shows.
But what about the fact that sake sales are way down in Japan but way up in the US? That one has an explanation too – something to do with how Americans think of sake as a classy beverage, but Japanese folks just associate it with old people. It’s all about that social context.
