Every Wednesday morning, Chapel Hill Public Library director Susan Brown joins 97.9 The Hill’s Aaron Keck for “Talking Books,” a weekly segment of book recommendations, of all genres and for all ages. (Susan also heads up Chapel Hill’s Community Arts and Culture department, so they’ll often talk about upcoming festivals and other cultural events as well.)

It’s been a very heavy week in our community, between Monday’s fatal shooting on campus and the approach of Hurricane Idalia this evening. Susan recommends books to help people understand both gun violence and extreme weather – and then she and Aaron also recommend some lighter fare, for people who just want a break from all the trauma and difficult news.
