State House Rep. Allen Buansi (D-Chapel Hill) joins Aaron to discuss the latest budget talks at the General Assembly. Buansi also shares details from a bill he just co-sponsored: the “Fair Share for Public Schools Act,” which would add a 7 percent tax on all income over $1,000,000 and direct those funds to North Carolina’s public schools. (It’s not likely to pass this year, but advocates are hoping it will spur North Carolinians to push lawmakers to pass it in a future session – just as North Carolinians successfully lobbied Republicans to expand Medicaid.)
