Republican lawmakers have finally agreed on a state budget deal that includes Medicaid expansion – but Democrats are still largely opposed. Why? It’s because of a wide variety of other provisions, some buried deep within the budget plan, that are causing significant concern: a big expansion of school vouchers, limited raises for teachers – and some even more troubling provisions, like one that would greatly extend the power of a legislature-controlled investigative unit, and another that would allow lawmakers to exempt themselves from public records laws.
Aaron chats with State Sen. Graig Meyer (D-Orange) about the budget – plus other issues, including legislative redistricting, which is on the docket for next week.
