Chapel Hill is celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a series of events. The annual MLK Jr. Memorial Celebration will take place in the Friday Center on Sunday, January 19, starting at 5 p.m., raising funds to support local scholarships with a keynote speech by UNC’s Donovan Livingston. Then the Chapel Hill-Carrboro NAACP will host the annual MLK Day march & rally on Monday, January 20, starting at 10:00 a.m. at Peace & Justice Plaza and marching down Franklin Street to First Baptist Church.

Herman Foushee is the president of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro NAACP, and Bishop L. Gene Hatley is co-organizing Sunday’s Memorial Celebration. They stopped by 97.9 The Hill to chat with Aaron about the two events, and what Dr. King’s legacy means today.
