Aaron chats with Nora Spencer of Hope Renovations, a nonprofit that provides women with skills training in the construction industry – and uses those skills to provide home improvements for senior residents, enabling them to age in place. Hope Renovations has received national acclaim since its founding five years ago – but they recently had a $300,000 federal grant abruptly rescinded, after Trump administration officials tagged it as a “wasteful” pro-diversity program. Hope Renovations is pushing forward nonetheless, now with an impromptu fundraising campaign to try to make up the difference.
Hope Renovations will have a fun fundraiser this Thursday from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at TopGolf in Durham. Swing some clubs, enjoy tasty food with your choice of wine or beer, and a chance to score awesome goodies in a silent auction.
