Recently, longtime Binkley Baptist Church senior pastor Marcus McFaul announced he’s heading into retirement, after a career of advancing Binkley’s commitment to faith-based social justice advocacy. Now, his congregation is taking a step to put that advocacy into action in his honor: they’ve just launched the Marcus McFaul Medical Debt Relief Fund. Working with the national organization Undue Medical Debt, they’re hoping to erase (at least) $1 million worth of medical debt for residents in Orange, Durham, and Chatham Counties. They need to raise $10,000 to make that happen; doing so would help at least 200 local residents escape their debt.
