With the current, limited supply of COVID-19 vaccine, teachers and school personnel may have to wait to be vaccinated despite becoming eligible on February 24.
The Orange County Health Department says it will work with schools to ensure educators can be vaccinated before returning to in-person learning. The health department said it will work with the two public school systems, private and charter schools and the childcare providers within the county to develop a plan to vaccinate eligible staff under new state COVID-19 guidance.
UNC Health has administered more than 75,000 COVID-19 vaccinations across the state with more than 50,000 future appointments already scheduled amid an increasingly-limited number of available doses.
