Carolina offensive guard Willie Lampkin won the ACC’s Jacobs Blocking Trophy on Monday. The trophy is voted on by the league’s coaches and goes to the most outstanding blocker in the ACC.

As graded by Pro Football Focus, Lampkin is the highest-rated guard among all offensive lineman in the Power 4 (ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC) conferences. In 473 pass-blocking plays this season, Lampkin did not allow a single sack. The fifth-year senior, who transferred to UNC from Coastal Carolina prior to the 2023 season, anchored a UNC offense which averaged more than 400 total yards per game in 2024. With Lampkin leading the way, running back Omarion Hampton rushed for 1,660 yards, the second-most in a single season in school history. He led the ACC and ranked second nationally in both total rushing yards and rushing yards per game (138.3) Only Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty had more.

Lampkin is the ninth Tar Heel to win the Jacobs Trophy and only the second to do so since 1989. Jonathan Cooper is the most recent winner, taking home the trophy in 2012.
