After two more outstanding performances in which he led the Tar Heels to victories, UNC senior guard R.J. Davis was named the ACC Player of the Week on Monday and the AP’s National Player of the Week on Tuesday. It’s the third time this season Davis has earned the ACC honor, and the first time he’s earned the AP honor.

Davis averaged 30 points per game in wins against Wake Forest and Florida State, including a career-high 36-point outing against the Demon Deacons. He followed that up with a 24-point performance against the Seminoles to secure Carolina’s 10th consecutive win. In the two games, Davis shot 23-41 (56.1 percent) from the floor and 6-16 (37.5 percent) on three-pointers. He became the first Tar Heel to score at least 36 points in a game since Brice Johnson in 2016, and the first to do so in the Smith Center since Tyler Hansbrough in 2008.

Davis and the Tar Heels will be back in action on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. when they visit Georgia Tech. The next opportunity to see Carolina at home comes this weekend when the team hosts No. 7 Duke at 6:30 p.m.
