After his standout performance in a 45-10 win against North Carolina Central on Saturday, UNC’s Omarion Hampton was named the ACC Running Back of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Hampton tied a personal best with three touchdowns against the Eagles, and his 210 rushing yards are the second-most in his career. It was the 11th game of 100 or more rushing yards in his career. He also caught one pass for seven yards. UNC named Hampton its offensive player of the game as well.

“He wants to play every snap. He doesn’t ever want to come out,” head coach Mack Brown said of Hampton on 97.9 The Hill’s “Mondays With Mack” segment. “And he is not only one of the best running backs in North Carolina history, but he’s also one of the best running backs in the country.”

None of Hampton’s 25 rushes lost yardage, and 181 of his 210 yards on the ground came after contact, according to Pro Football Focus. His 416 rushing yards through three games rank first in the ACC and fourth in the nation. Hampton is coming off a 2023 season which saw him earn first team All-ACC and second team All-America honors.

Hampton and the rest of the Tar Heels will be back in action on Saturday at 12 p.m. when they host James Madison at Kenan Stadium.
