Following their performances in Carolina’s 41-14 win at Virginia on Saturday, receiver J.J. Jones and defensive lineman Kaimon Rucker were named the ACC’s Players of the Week at their positions.

Jones, a senior, caught five passes and set a career high with 129 receiving yards vs. the Cavaliers. He also reeled in two touchdown passes, including a 31-yarder in the final minute of the first half to give the Tar Heels a commanding lead.

Rucker was part of a dominant defensive effort by Carolina, contributing three of the team’s 10 sacks on the day. The Tar Heels hadn’t recorded 10 sacks in a game since the 2000 season. Rucker added eight tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and his first career interception. His 20 career sacks are tied for seventh in program history, and his 36 career tackles for loss rank eighth.

Jones, Rucker and the rest of the Tar Heels will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when Carolina visits Florida State at 3:30 p.m.
