After his career-high 31 points led Carolina to an 84-79 win at No. 9 Duke on Saturday night, Cormac Ryan was named the ACC Player of the Week.

Ryan’s 31 points are the most by a Tar Heel against Duke since Antawn Jamison scored 35 in 1998, and the most in Cameron Indoor Stadium since Hubert Davis’ 35 at Duke in 1992. His six threes tied a Carolina record against Duke – shared by Brady Manek (2022), Kenny Williams (2018) and Davis (1992).

Earlier in the week, in an 84-51 win against Notre Dame on Senior Night, Ryan contributed 14 points against his former team. He finished the week shooting 8-13 (61.5 percent) on threes.

Ryan is the fourth different Tar Heel to win ACC Player of the Week this season, joining R.J. Davis (four times), Armando Bacot (twice) and Harrison Ingram. Carolina is the first team to have four different players win the award since Duke did so in 2012-13.

Ryan and the rest of the Tar Heels will be back in action when they play in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday at noon. Carolina is the No. 1 seed in the field.
