The No. 3 UNC women’s tennis team continued its flawless start to the 2022 dual season Tuesday, sweeping a doubleheader with Campbell and ECU and dropping just one set in the process.

The opener against the Pirates was a historic occasion, as Carolina set a program record with its 51st consecutive home win, a streak which began back in 2018. Junior Anika Yarlagadda came out red-hot for the Tar Heels, dispatching her opponent from ECU 6-0, 6-0. Reilly Tran, Carson Tanguilig and Fiona Crawley, all ranked in the top 20 in singles, also picked up dominant wins against the Pirates.

The fun continued in the nightcap against Campbell, with junior Kacie Harvey picking up another 6-0, 6-0 win. Sophia Patel found herself down a set early against her opponent from the Camels, but rallied to take the second set 6-2 and force a first-to-10 tiebreak. It began poorly for Patel, with the senior trailing 9-3 and staring down six match points. But she miraculously fought off every single one, outscoring her opponent 10-2 in the remainder of the tiebreak to win, 13-11.

The No. 1 doubles duo of Fiona Crawley and Elizabeth Scotty did not compete against either the Pirates or the Camels, with Scotty not playing in singles, either.

Carolina is now 4-0 in dual matches this season without losing a single match, though that record will be put to the test Saturday, as the No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs visit Chapel Hill. Carolina won their dual match with Georgia last season, 4-3 in Athens.
