The UNC volleyball team shared its 2024 regular season schedule on Tuesday. The Tar Heels are entering their second season under head coach Mike Schall.
After an exhibition at Appalachian State on August 16 and the annual Blue/White Scrimmage on August 23, Carolina will open its season with three consecutive home matches: against Cleveland State on August 30, College of Charleston on August 31 and Western Carolina on September 1. That homestand will be followed by four consecutive matches away from Chapel Hill: Temple and South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. and Lipscomb and Kansas State in Manhattan, KS. Home contests against Michigan and Michigan State on September 20 and 22 will conclude the non-conference portion of the schedule.
In ACC play, notable matchups include two consecutive meetings with Duke on October 2 (in Durham) and October 4 (in Chapel Hill), followed by visits to NC State on October 11 and Wake Forest on October 13.
Carolina will face each of the three new ACC members, starting with a visit to SMU in Dallas on November 10. Cal will visit Carmichael Arena on November 22 and nine-time national champions Stanford will follow on November 24. The Tar Heels will celebrate Senior Night against Virginia on November 27 and close the regular season at Clemson on November 29.
“We’re excited about the group we have heading into the 2024 season,” said Schall. “The non-conference slate will be a great test for us and prepare us for the challenging ACC schedule.”
UNC is seeking its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2021. Carolina hasn’t won a postseason match since 2016, when it advanced to the Sweet 16.
