On the heels of an NCAA Tournament appearance and first-round victory in 2024, the UNC volleyball program has announced its regular season schedule for the 2025 campaign.
UNC’s season begins with a pair of matches in Conway, S.C. The Tar Heels will face off first with Maryland on August 30 before taking on hosts Coastal Carolina the following day. The team’s home opener is set for Friday, September 5 against Bucknell in Carmichael Arena.
A home date with 2024 Sweet 16 participant Florida on September 9 and a September 12 visit to South Carolina highlight the rest of the non-conference slate. The ACC portion of the schedule begins September 26, when Wake Forest visits Chapel Hill. NC State (September 28) and Duke (October 1) will come to Carmichael Arena for UNC’s next two fixtures. As happened last year, Carolina will face Duke in back-to-back matches, following up its October 1 home date with a visit to Cameron Indoor Stadium on October 4.
Other key ACC matchups include home matchups with SMU (October 31) and 2024 national semifinalist Pittsburgh (November 2). Carolina will also pay visits to Georgia Tech (October 12) and nine-time national champion Stanford (November 7).

The Tar Heels are entering their third season under head coach Mike Schall. UNC finished the 2024 season with a 23-8 overall record, winning its first-round NCAA Tournament matchup before falling to future national champion Penn State in four sets in the second round. The 23 total wins and 14 wins in conference play were both the program’s most in a single season since 2016. The 2016 season is also the last in which UNC reached the NCAA Tournament in consecutive years.
