Zac Gallen is likely the best pitcher with a 5-5 record in the county, and proved it once again this week as he earned the ACC Co-Pitcher of the Week honors.
Gallen held Notre Dame scoreless through eight innings and struck out eight as the Tar Heels won 3-0 Friday night.
He lowered his ERA to a team-best 2.35 in 12 starts, and leads weekend starters in the league with a .206 opponent batting average.
Only one Notre Dame baserunner advanced past second while Gallen was on the mound.
The Tar Heels and the Irish split the season series 1-1, with the rubbermatch beginning Monday evening at 7:00 p.m.
