UNC sophomore Elizabeth Scotty was selected Wednesday as the UTR ITA Division I Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, for her efforts in the Tar Heels’ three victories last week.

Splitting time with Sara Daavettila and Makenna Jones, Scotty went 3-0 in doubles competition against Appalachian State, Charlotte and No. 14 Virginia. Scotty’s pairings lost just five games combined in those three doubles outings.

In singles competition, Scotty scored a huge victory in straight sets for the Tar Heels over No. 47 ranked Rosie Johanson. That win put UNC within one team point from clinching the match.

This represent’s Scotty’s first career National Player of the Week award.

The Tar Heels are currently 10-0 this season and ranked No. 1 in the country. The win over Virginia last week set a new program record, with UNC having won its last 28 matches in a streak dating back to last season.
