With the spring season just around the corner, a trio of Tar Heels were named Thursday to the MAC Hermann Award watch list.

Senior Rachel Jones, junior Brianna Pinto and sophomore Maycee Bell were each highlighted for the award, which is presented annually to the top women’s soccer athlete in the country.

All three players were First Team All-ACC selections during the fall portion of the season. UNC was undefeated until falling to Florida State in the ACC Tournament championship game.

Pinto was recently drafted No. 3 overall in the NWSL Draft by Sky Blue FC and was named the 2019 U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year. She has scored 23 goals and dished out 16 assists during her career at UNC.

Jones scored five goals during the fall and was named TopDrawerSoccer’s National Player of the Week on Sept. 22.

The 2019 ACC Freshman of the Year, Bell anchored a UNC defense which allowed just six goals over the 12 games played in the fall.

Details regarding UNC’s spring schedule have yet to be announced.
