Sophomore defensive specialist/libero Karenna Wurl was selected Thursday as UNC’s lone representative on the Academic All-ACC volleyball team.
Wurl is a media and journalism major from San Diego who played in 16 of the Tar Heels’ 18 matches last season, leading the team in both digs (252) and service aces (20).
She was one of 34 volleyball student-athletes selected to the Academic All-ACC team, which requires players to have a 3.0 grade point average in both their most recent semester and as a cumulative average for their college careers.
Louisville and Notre Dame led the conference with five selections apiece, while Florida State and Pitt were just behind with four apiece.
The Tar Heels went 10-8 this past season with a 9-7 record against ACC opponents.
Congrats to our own @karennawurl for being named to the All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team for her strong performance both on the court and in the classroom for 2020-21! 📚👏
So proud of you, Karenna! 🙌😊#GoHeels https://t.co/Qr6GQ15wYx
