With the 2019 spring semester beginning, Mack Brown and the new UNC football coaching staff held their first team meeting with returning players.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited at anything in my entire life,” Brown says to begin the video posted by UNC athletics.

The video begins with the incoming freshmen introducing themselves to the rest of the team. This includes players like quarterback Sam Howell, cornerback Storm Duck and offensive tackle Wyatt Tunall.

“This is family, this is team,” Brown continues. “We’re starting out fresh and new.”

The star of the video emerges when the coaching staff stands up to introduce themselves, starting with offensive line coach Stacy Searels, who claims he only pulled into Chapel Hill around thirty minutes before the team meeting, and ending with defensive line coach Tim Cross.

Cross gets emotional when discussing his relationship with Brown. Cross was first hired by Brown at Texas.

“I was already a monster,” Cross yells. “But what this man did was gave this monster his first opportunity, almost 20 years ago! And now, 20 years later, he’s giving this monster his greatest opportunity ever.

“Let’s get this work,” Cross says, enthusiastically high-fiving players in the seats. “Let’s get this work!”

UNC opens its 2019-20 football season on August 31 against South Carolina in Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
