• Carolina is now 29-6 overall this season and 113-44 in NCAA Tournament play.

• The Tar Heels are 51-10 as a No. 1 seed, 32-1 in NCAA Tournament games in the state of North Carolina and 12-0 vs. No. 16 seeds.

• Carolina has won 28 consecutive NCAA Tournament games in the state of North Carolina.

• Head coach Roy Williams moved into second place in all-time NCAA Tournament wins with victory No. 66. He passed Dean Smith, who won 65 at UNC. Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski is first with 89.

• Williams has coached in 26 NCAA Tournaments. His teams have won at least one game in all 26 NCAA appearances, something no other coach has ever done.

• Williams is 66-23 in NCAA Tournament play, including 32-9 at Carolina.

• Williams is 779-208. The 779 wins are the 11th-most Division I wins all-time. Lute Olson is 10th with 780.

• Florida Gulf Coast shot 60 percent from the floor in the first half. That’s the highest percentage in a half by any opponent this year (previous was .560 by Maryland in the first half on 12/1/15).

• Florida Gulf Coast’s first half percentage (.600) was the first time a UNC opponent has shot 60 percent for a half in the NCAA Tournament since Texas Tech shot 65 percent in the second half of a 92-73 Red Raider win on 3/17/1996 (20 years ago Thursday). That was a second round game in Richmond.

• For the game, however, Carolina held the Eagles to 43.1 percent from the floor, the 26th consecutive game the opponents have shot under 45 percent for the game.

• Carolina had a 20-0 advantage in fast break points. The 20 points are the second-most by UNC this year (26 vs. Davidson).

• UNC is now 21-1 when it has at least 10 fast break points.

• It was the fifth time this year the opponents did not score a single fast break point (Northern Iowa, UCLA, Duke in Chapel Hill and at Virginia).

• UNC scored 21 points off turnovers, the most in a game since the Tar Heels scored 24 vs. Pitt on 2/14/16.

• Carolina blocked a season-high 10 shots (previous eight vs. Kansas State).

• This is the sixth time in UNC history the team blocked at least 10 shots in an NCAA Tournament game and the first time since it had 10 vs. Long Island in 2011. The UNC record is 11 vs. Georgetown in 1995.

• Carolina made seven three-pointers and allowed two. That’s the second-largest margin (plus-five) of the season for 3FGs and the most since UNC made 10 and Tulane four on 12/16/15.

• Carolina had seven turnovers, which ties the third-fewest by UNC in an NCAA Tournament game.

• The Tar Heels scored 44 points in the paint. UNC is now 21-1 this year when it scores 40 points in the paint.

 PLAYERS

• First-team All-America forward Brice Johnson scored a game-high 18 points, had seven rebounds, a career-high eight blocked shots, three assists and no turnovers.

• Johnson set a Carolina NCAA Tournament record with the eight blocks. Previous high was six by John Henson vs. LIU in 2011, Rasheed Wallace vs. Georgetown in 1995 and Warren Martin vs. Middle Tennessee State in 1985.

• Johnson’s previous high was five twice – vs. Pitt in 2014 and vs. Pitt last Thursday in Washington, D.C., in the ACC quarterfinals.

• Johnson has 1620 career points. He passed Mitch Kupchak (1611) and Hubert Davis (1615) for 23rd place in Carolina history.

• Johnson scored in double figures for the 32nd  time this year.

• Johnson is tied with Danny Green for ninth place in UNC history with 155 blocks.

• Johnson has 367 rebounds this year. He passed Tyler Zeller (365 in 2012) and George Lynch (365 in 1993) for sixth place in UNC single-season history.

• Marcus Paige hit three three-pointers tonight. He has a UNC-record 282 in his career.

• Paige had six assists and has 584 in his career. He passed Jeff Lebo (580) and Kendall Marshall (581) in career assists for eighth place in UNC history.

• Paige is now 18 of 34 (.529) from three-point range in five career games in PNC Arena.

• Justin Jackson (12) scored in double figures for the 12th consecutive game and the 25th time this year.

• Joel Berry scored in double figures (14) for the 30th time this year. UNC is 28-2 when he does.

• Isaiah Hicks scored in double figures (12) for the 18th time this year (third time in four post-season games).
