At long last, UNC has won a national championship this season.
Playing in Milwaukee, the UNC Darkside ultimate frisbee team defeated Pittsburgh’s En Sabah Nur team in the national title game by a score of 14-10 on Memorial Day.
It represented the team’s second championship in four years, as the budding dynasty is starting to establish itself as the dominant powerhouse in the sport.
Darkside has also appeared in five consecutive national tournament semifinals, reaching the finals in three of those years.
Monday’s championship final also saw Darkside hold the lead against En Sabah Nur throughout the entirety of the game–with Elijah Long ultimately finding Colin Smith on the game-winning throw, no pun intended.
