After defeating the Duke Blue Devils by a score of 1-0 on Saturday, the UNC men’s soccer team clinched the first ever U.S. Soccer Spring College Program Championship.

Jeremy Kelly was responsible for the game’s only goal, as the Tar Heels picked up their third shutout in five games this spring.

The win also capped an undefeated spring for UNC, who outscored their opponents 13-2 during the win streak.

Victories over Clemson, Georgetown, Wake Forest and Virginia–in addition to Saturday’s win over Duke–proved to be more than enough to claim the prize for head coach Carlos Somoano and company.

Heading into next fall, it now appears the Tar Heels are poised to make a run at a third straight College Cup appearance.
