Former UNC guard Seventh Woods–who spent the last three seasons with the Tar Heels–announced Friday that he is transferring to South Carolina in order to play out his final year of eligibility for head coach Frank Martin and the Gamecocks.

Woods is a native of Columbia, South Carolina, making this move a homecoming of sorts. He had also been considering Michigan and Gonzaga during the transfer process.

Because he had yet to graduate from UNC, Woods will have to sit out the 2019-20 season–although he will be allowed to practice with the Gamecocks.

Despite having considerable hype entering his collegiate career thanks to a viral YouTube video that garnered millions of hits when he was just 14 years old, Woods averaged only 1.8 points per game in 94 outings as a Tar Heel.
