GREENSBORO–Your local football stars met with the media and other ACC players Sunday for the ACC Kickoff in Greensboro.

Football season is 38 days away. Quarterback Brynn Renner is getting ready for his final season with the Tar Heels. He sat down with the ACC Digital Network to discuss last year’s successes and the pressures of the second year under the leadership of Larry Fedora and his fast-paced offense.

Renner said the offseason has provided a chance to review the flaws in which the team can improve on its 8-4 result from last year.

“We found a lot of things we can get better by watching film. We can improve on our tempo and things like that. Going back, it was a great season for us, but we’re looking forward to the opportunities we have this year,” Renner said.

One thing Carolina adds back this year is its ability to play in the postseason. The Tar Heels’ one-year postseason ban is lifted, although sanctions are not completely finished. This year’s recruiting class was the first of two in which Coach Fedora and his staff had five fewer scholarships to use when choosing Carolina’s future stars.

The game that begins the 2013 season—again, just 38 days away—is one against one of the best. It’s an ACC-SEC matchup that pits North vs. South.

The Tar Heels travel to Columbia, South Carolina Thursday night, August 29 to face the ‘Ole Ball Coach’, Steve Spurrier and the Gamecocks.

Renner said he’s excited about the matchup and that it’s a great way to see just where Carolina is at the onset of the season.
