CHAPEL HILL — Carolina swimmer Tom Luchsinger departs Tuesday with U.S. Swimming National Team to prepare for the 2013 World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona, Spain.

Luchsinger’s national championship triumph last month changed his travel plans a bit. But Luchsinger isn’t complaining.

Originally scheduled to compete in the World University Games in Russia, the Tar Heel will now be facing down the very best in the world along with his U.S. national teammates.

Luchsinger became only the fourth Tar Heel to win an individual national championship at the U.S. Swimming National Championships, joining Thompson Mann, Yann deFabrique, and Chip Peterson in that distinct category.

The swimming competition at Worlds will begin July 28.
