CHAPEL HILL – The No. 1 UNC baseball team could come within one win of locking up the Coastal Division title this weekend with a sweep of Georgia Tech; game one of the series begins Friday night in Atlanta.
The Tar Heels have a four-game lead on the Virginia Cavaliers, whom they will face in the final series of the regular season. Of the final seven conference games, four wins will guarantee an outright division crown for UNC.
However, Carolina Head Coach Mike Fox said on his weekly radio show Monday night that despite the Yellow Jackets sitting at 12-12 in the ACC, his Tar Heels can’t get caught looking ahead.
“We’ve historically not been as successful in Atlanta as we would like to be,” Coach Fox said. “We’re going to go in there facing a team that I think is fighting for their lives.”
Junior Kent Emanuel will once again take the mound Friday night in search of his tenth win of the season.
First pitch between Carolina and Georgia Tech is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Friday. The series continues Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. All three games of the contest can be heard live on WCHL and streaming here.

UNC’s Moran driving offense for No. 1 Tar Heels
CHAPEL HILL – Colin Moran has grown from the top freshman in the country to one of the nation’s most dangerous hitters and a top draft prospect for No. 1 North Carolina.
The junior has the chance to become the fourth player in NCAA history to lead the nation in runs scored and RBIs. He entered the week first in RBIs and tied for the lead in runs scored, while ranking among the leaders in most major hitting categories.
Moran has helped give UNC the nation’s top-scoring offense and kept them on course to return to the College World Series for the sixth time in eight seasons. It’s also solidified Moran’s standing as one of the top talents in next month’s draft.
Moran says he’s “just felt comfortable and gotten into a groove.”
