As Carolina prepares to spend Thanksgiving week on the Hawai’ian islands, the Tar Heels now know their holiday plans for 2025. UNC will participate in the 2025 Fort Myers Tip-Off event for the first time next fall, with the team facing Michigan State on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 27, 2025).
UNC and Michigan State have met 17 times overall, with the Tar Heels winning 13 of those matchups. The most recent game came in the second round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament in Charlotte, which Carolina won 85-69.
According to the event’s organizers, the only way to guarantee tickets for the Fort Myers Tip-Off is through official fan travel packages. Packages for next year’s event will be available in February. Fan can register to express interest and receive priority access by clicking here.
The event will be played at Suncoast Credit Union Arena on the campus of Florida Southwestern State College. The Tar Heels and Spartans are part of the event’s Beach Division. Two other teams are yet to be announced. The winner of the UNC vs. Michigan State matchup will face the winner of the second game, with the losers also facing off. Full dates and game times will be announced “in the coming weeks,” according to the organizers.
