In addition to the four Tar Heels who heard their names called during the NFL Draft, several other UNC football alumni signed deals as undrafted free agents after the draft ended.

Two Tar Heels are headed to the Bay Area after signing with the San Francisco 49ers: linebacker Jeremiah Gemmel and tight end Garrett Walston.

A two-time team captain, Gemmel made 38 consecutive starts over three seasons for Carolina, and was named third team All-ACC in 2021. His 75 tackles last season ranked second on the team. Walston played five seasons in Chapel Hill, catching five touchdowns and ranking fourth on the team with 18 receptions in 2021.

Offensive lineman Jordan Tucker inked a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Tucker is the third UNC offensive lineman to make his way to the NFL this weekend, joining Joshua Ezeudu and Marcus McKethan, who were both drafted by the New York Giants. Tucker made 36 starts over four seasons in Chapel Hill, and will now be teammates with former UNC quarterback Mitch Trubisky, who signed with the Steelers this offseason.

Joining Ezeudu and McKethan on the Giants will be linebacker Tomon Fox, who also signed with New York.

Fox made 47 starts for the Tar Heels and ranks third in program history with 29.5 career sacks. His 42 career tackles for loss rank sixth. Fox was named third team All-ACC in 2021. Fox, Ezeudu and McKethan will join former UNC running back Antonio Williams as Carolina alumni on the Giants.

Finally, defensive back Kyler McMichael signed a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After transferring from Clemson, McMichael made 16 starts and appeared in 21 games for the UNC secondary, and snagged his first career interception against Wofford in 2021.
