Former UNC star Cole Anthony hit the first game-winning buzzer-beater of his young NBA career on Wednesday night, a three-pointer that lifted the Orlando Magic to a 97-96 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The rookie–who was selected No. 15 overall by the Magic in the 2020 NBA Draft–finished the night with 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
His game-winner came when he dribbled up to the three-point line on the right wing and launched an off-balance shot in front of Timberwolves’ guard Malik Beasley. The ball went through the net just after time expired, allowing Anthony’s Magic teammates to swarm him in celebration.
The win pushed Orlando’s record up to 7-8 on the season while dropping Minnesota to 3-10.
For the season, Anthony is averaging 10.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists across 24.5 minutes per game.
