UNC dignitaries, former Tar Heel stars, fans and local media gathered in the Dean Smith Center Tuesday evening to all meet the men’s basketball program’s new head coach.
The university held a public press conference for Michael Malone, who UNC agreed to terms with on Tuesday to join the college ranks after more than 23 years of coaching in the NBA. Malone — who walked in alongside his wife Jocelyn and daughter Bridget — was joined on stage by Chancellor Lee Roberts, Athletics Director Bubba Cunningham and Executive Associate Director of Athletics Steve Newmark to make remarks and answer questions.
