Former Tar Heel Pete Nance is headed to the league. According to a report from Cleveland.com, Nance has signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers.

Nance played one season at Carolina after four seasons with Northwestern in the Big Ten. With the Tar Heels, Nance averaged 10 points and six rebounds while starting 30 games. Nance blocked at least one shot in each of UNC’s final five games of the season, including blocking four shots each in wins against Virginia and Boston College. Though not known as a scorer, Nance did eclipse the 20-point plateau three times, all three Carolina victories. His highest output came against Portland in the PK85 tournament, when Nance scored 28 points, made five three-pointers and grabbed seven rebounds.

Nance has a familial connection with the Cavaliers. His father and brother have each played for the organization. Nance also attended high school in nearby Akron, OH. His Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year deal at the league minimum salary, but Nance will join the team for Summer League action and training camp. The organization will then have the opportunity to convert his deal into a two-way contract, which will allow him to play for either Cleveland’s G-league affiliate or the professional club.
