Nine members of the UNC women’s lacrosse team were named as Preseason All-Americans.
The Tar Heels are ranked second in the nation.
Goalie Caylee Waters, reigning national goalie of the year, was named a first team All-American, along with midfielder Maggie Bill.
Bill was a second team All-American last season.
Attackers Ally Messinger and Sammy Jo Tracy were named to the second team, along with midfielder Marie McCool.
Messinger and Tracy led the team in goals scored last season, with 42 and 38 respectively, while McCool scored 26 goals.
Attacker Molly Hendrick and defender Mallory Frysinger made the third team.
Attacker Sydney Holman and goalie Megan Ward were honorable mentions.
The Tar Heels begin their season in February and look to capture the national title they came so close to last season. They lost to Maryland 9-8 in the championship game.
