The third-round of the high school football playoffs have arrived and two area teams are making plenty of noise in their respective bids for a state championship.

Isaac Marsh boosted his area coach of the year candidacy with last week’s upset of Fayetteville’s Terry Sanford in the second round. He’ll receive more plaudits if the Tigers topple the top team in their conference, Southern Durham, tonight in our Chapelboro.com game of the week.

Pat Moser’s Orange Panthers earned a return to Hillsborough after travelling to Wendell and crushing Corinth Holders in round two. Tonight, the ‘Crush’ will face a Northern Guilford squad that already knocked our Northwood Chargers out of the postseason.

As always, your Friday night kicks off with ‘The Grid with Matt & Matt’ , WCHL’s exclusive high school football pregame show hosted by Matt Oakes and Matt Paul.

At 7 p.m., the duo interviews Marsh and Moser, analyze and predict the games, select ‘The Grid Great of the Week’ and unveil the ‘WCHL/Chapelboro.com Super Six rankings. There may be a change near the top of those rankings, so be sure to tune in!

At 7:25 p.m., we’ll take you out to Southern Durham where Paul Connell and Chris Casey take the mikes for coverage of the Spartans clash vs. the Tigers.
