Thursday morning update: The stage is set for an old-school day of quarterfinals in Greensboro, as all of the “Big Four” of Duke, Wake Forest, UNC and NC State will play. The No. 9 seed Demon Deacons provided one of the highlights of the tournament by knocking out No. 8 seed Syracuse on a long three-pointer with less than a second to go. The game also proved to be the last in the career of Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim, who officially retired afterward.

Pitt dispatched Georgia Tech in the day’s second game, before Carolina handled Boston College and NC State blew out defending tournament champion Virginia Tech.
