Another international prospect is making his way to Chapel Hill.
Alexandros Samodurov, who has played professionally in Greece since 2022, announced his commitment to head coach Michael Malone and UNC Saturday.
Samodurov, a 6-foot-11 forward, has played his entire professional career with the Greek club Panathinaikos. The club has seen sustained success during his time there, winning the Greek League and the EuroLeague in 2024 and the Greek Cup in 2025 and 2026. Samodurov has seen his playing time increase steadily across his four years with Panathinaikos, setting career highs in games played and minutes per game in the 2025-26 season. Notably, Samodurov was a Panathinaikos teammate of Neoklis Avdalas, who signed with UNC earlier in the offseason after transferring from Virginia Tech.
Samodurov has also represented his native Greece on the international circuit. At the FIBA U-20 Eurobasket in 2025, Samodurov earned All-Star honors by averaging 17.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. He also competed for Greece’s senior team, averaging 4.9 points and 4.6 rebounds.
Samodurov is the second international prospect to commit to the Tar Heels this offseason. He joins Sayon Keita, a Malian center who played professionally in Spain this past season. For a full look at all the newcomers joining the Tar Heels next season, click here.
