Another transfer is joining head coach Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels this fall. Forward Tyzhaun Claude announced his commitment to Carolina on Wednesday afternoon. The Goldsboro, N.C. native has one year of eligibility remaining.

The 2024-25 season will be Claude’s sixth in college basketball. He spent the first three years of his career at Morehead State, starting 19 games as a true freshman before missing most of the next two seasons with an injury.

Claude then transferred to Western Carolina in 2022-23, where he led the Southern Conference with 8.6 rebounds per game and ranked second on the Catamount roster with 15.4 points per game. His 3.2 offensive rebounds per game were good for 30th in the entirety of Division 1.

Claude transferred to Georgia Tech for the 2023-24 season. Though he started only four games and saw his numbers take a dip, Claude posted one of his best games in an upset over Davis and the Tar Heels. Claude scored nine points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked three shots for the shorthanded Yellow Jackets and helped snap a 10-game Carolina winning streak.

Claude adds depth to a UNC frontcourt which will have to replace all-time rebounding leader Armando Bacot. Returners Jalen Washington, Jae’Lyn Withers and Zayden High are joined by freshman James Brown and transfers Ven-Allen Lubin and Cade Tyson on the roster.
