A quartet of UNC men’s soccer players were named to the ACC’s annual all-conference teams on Wednesday afternoon. Defender Riley Thomas earned a spot on the first team, forward Martin Vician a spot on the second team, midfielder Sam Williams a spot on the third team and defender Tate Johnson a spot on the All-Freshman team.

Thomas and Johnson have started together on the UNC back line in 16 of the team’s 17 matches (Thomas started all 17, while Johnson started 16). Thomas leads the team with 1,526 minutes in the field and has anchored a Carolina defense which ranks third in the league. The Tar Heels have posted six shutouts this season. Johnson has also logged heavy minutes, playing the full 90 in 13 matches while recording a goal and two assists.

Vician is making his All-ACC debut this season. The Slovakian leads Carolina and ranks fourth in the league with 10 goals in 2024. He also ranks in the league’s Top 5 in points (21), shots on goal (23) and game-winning goals (three). He scored multiple goals in three different matches.

Williams is appearing on an All-ACC team for the third consecutive season. He has started all 17 matches for UNC this fall, playing the full 90 minutes in 13. He’s scored four goals and dished out two assists in 1,481 minutes played.

The Tar Heels will learn their NCAA Tournament path during the selection show on Monday, November 18 at 1 p.m.
