Welcome to Wellness Wednesday, presented by Orange Partnership and airing on 97.9 The Hill and Chapelboro.com!
This month, join a conversation with Dr. Jessica Hoffman of the UNC Bowles Center on Alcohol Studies, Caroline Hall, a student working with the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Team (ADAPT), and Gayane Chambless, Program Director for Orange Partnership.
The focus of April’s conversation centers around THC usage by young people and the adverse effects it can have on their lives, as “420” commemorates a group of college students who would meet up to smoke weed. In an environment where there are many synthetic options available on the market and THC products are generally more appealing and accessible, it’s important to note that while some products may seem less harmful or more socially acceptable, they still carry potential risks, especially for younger users.
Listen above to the full conversation between 97.9 The Hill’s Andrew Stuckey as he talks with Dr. Jessica Hoffman, Caroline Hall, and Gayane Chambless as they discuss the perception of harm as it relates to THC, current laws and regulations, how packaging and marketing products like “stoneos” has an effect, and what parents can do to dispel some common misconceptions.
To learn more, the National Institute on Drug Abuse has educational guidelines to help you learn how to find credible information and has an incredible amount of information available to learn how drugs including cannabis affect our brains and bodies.
