Welcome to “Thriving in Orange!” A monthly segment presented by Orange County Economic Development, “Thriving in Orange” features conversations with local business owners about what it’s like to live and work in Orange County, especially in light of the county’s small business grant program which launched in 2015 and has helped small businesses and small business owners with well over $100,000 in grants each year!
This month, 97.9 The Hill’s Aaron Keck has a conversation with Haley Bunting — of Narrative + Co. — a woman-owned retail shop in Carrboro. Located in the Carr Mill Mall, Narrative + Co. offers practical, long-wearing solutions for anyone in the market for a new look. From starting out in a gutted trolley car to setting up in Carrboro, Bunting has had quite the journey!
“I feel like in this area, we focus on everyday functional wares,” said Bunting. “Stuff that can be a little bit more practical, functional, you know — we want people to be comfortable in what they’re wearing and not so much buying to buy, you know? We try to stick away from what’s trending as that tends to be a little bit more fast fashion styles. We just kind of want people to slow down their consumption of clothing and really think about what they’re wearing and what story they’re telling with their purchases.”
