In February’s feature The Inn at Elon invites readers to explore their brand-new 4-star boutique hotel located within the botanical gardens of Elon University. Corine Hollingsworth, General Manager at The Inn at Elon, caught up with us recently to describe some of the small surprises you can find there.
1. Tell us about the history of the Inn at Elon and how it came to be what it is today.
“The Inn at Elon was a long-standing vision of Elon University – to have an on-campus hotel to host visitors to the university and the surrounding region. Today, it is a 4-star, 80-room boutique hotel offering amenities such as pet-friendly rooms, complimentary bicycles, an electric car charging station, and delicious American fare made with local ingredients and a Southern twist at The Mark at Elon Restaurant and Lounge.”
2. Why is Elon and Alamance County such a great place for a destination hotel?
“Elon and Alamance County is an area ripe with history that is worth exploring. This is a town once known as “Boon Crossing” – a North Carolina depot between Goldsboro and Charlotte.”
3. What is something that makes the Inn at Elon unique from other hotels?
“The Inn at Elon is located on the award-winning campus of Elon University and the hotel’s mission “A Stay With Purpose” means that all profits from the hotel fund student scholarships. The hotel is also located within the botanical gardens of Elon University.”
4. What kinds of local activities do you recommend that you guests explore while they are visiting Alamance County?
“Elon University, Conservators Center, Granddaddy’s Antique Mall and Alamance Battleground state site are all wonderful local small surprises to check out while you’re in the area.”
5. What is something about Alamance County that most people don’t know?
“One thing that most people don’t know is that the town of Haw River was once known as the Corduroy Capital of the World!”
6. What is your favorite thing about the Inn at Elon?
“One of our favorite parts of the Inn is the courtyard. It has beautiful backdrop foliage that can be seen from the outdoor terrace. Our website has a lot of wonderful photos of the property that really show off its grandeur.”
7. How does the Inn at Elon hope to grow in the future?
“The Inn at Elon strives to be the #1 hotel in Elon with a five-star restaurant in Alamance County. This month you can book The Sweetheart Package that includes accommodations, a bottle of sparkling wine, a $50 dining credit and a late check-out.
