This week’s big news revolves around a big new housing development that the City Council approved at its recent meeting – including 565 homes on 229 acres, and also new bike/pedestrian paths to connect Mebane to Hillsborough. Of course housing is an important part of any city’s comprehensive plan, and Mebane is working to update theirs; there’s a public forum on that process scheduled for February 27.
In addition, Kelly discusses several upcoming events: a meet-and-greet on February 18 with new city manager Richard White; the 11th annual Mebane Train Show on March 8; an upcoming talk at the historical museum to mark Black History Month; and a pair of new programs for older adults as well as caregivers.
